Exercising is so important to me. I feel happier and calmer after I exercise. But so is avoiding this heat. Normally, I would walk around my neighborhood or a park. It’s a great way to feel great and meet neighbors. Since it’s been 200 degrees outside, I’ve found some pretty cool YouTube videos to work out with. I’d assess my choices but then I would do them all for fear of making the “wrong” choice. Choices like, “Should I go for a walk right now or spend time with my family?” “Should I take a shower right now or clean the kitchen?” “Can I get a moment to breathe or should I go read a bedtime story to my child?” became the norm.   When I found myself working harder than ever and feeling as though my days were running together without feeling...
I listened to a podcast the other day that was talking about how women in their early thirties, married 5-7 years, fresh into motherhood, often lose their sense of self. They get so wrapped up in caring for others that their sense of identity slowly disappears. I thought a lot about this sentiment and how postpartum depression and the time in between my first born and having my second baby was so emotional. I did not take care of myself. I did not do things I love that bring me joy. I had little sense of self-worth. Now, I’m finding myself again and it has made me a happier woman, a better mom, and in the most blissful state of...
