I'll be there first to admit, I love me a good ol' family gathering. I love the holidays. I love all the magical chaos that comes along with it. I LOVE to entertain in my home, to host my family and friends and entertain their faces off ... I really really do. What I loathe? All of the freaking prep that goes along with it. I mean the holidays are crazy ... crazy like my kids after their Paw Paw gave them a super sized Icee for the first time ever. Crazy as in the time I did all my Christmas shopping at midnight two days before Santa was to arrive. Crazy. This year, I'm hosting Christmas day at my house....
Do you ever feel like you're drowning in stuff? Especially toys? I've always done my best to keep the amount of stuff in our house to a minimum, but it never seems like enough. Christmas makes things particularly complicated. You see, my five year old daughter is an only child. I have one brother who has no children. My husband is an only child. Both of our parents are divorced (Though my mom and his dad have remarried). So, as you can imagine, my daughter gets LOTS of gifts. After her first Christmas, I wished I had bought stock in the company that makes Amazon's gift wrapping. Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly grateful that my daughter is surrounded by so...
I am a girl who loves a good planner. Every year, I scope out the new / best / hottest layouts and chose my planner for the year. If I am being completely honest with myself, in August I check out the school planners, even though at this point, I am pretty removed from the student role. I also had a notebook for our finances, a journal for my Bible Study, and a notebook / to do list / grocery list. Try as I might, I never ever found a planner that would fit my sometimes strange / hectic life all in one.  Simple Bullet Journal Spreads Until I found out exactly what a bullet journal is. You see I did...
I love sleep. But as high school teachers, my husband and I are up before the sun, which unfortunately means our kids must be, too. We absolutely must have lunches, booksacks, and outfits ready the night before so we can all sleep as late as humanly possible. I have even timed myself during my morning routines in an effort to maximize the amount of sleep I can get in a single night. It takes me approximately 17 minutes to get ready, but that's not even taking into consideration how long it takes to get my three kids up, teeth brushed, hair combed, dressed, and out the door. With all of this, our kids' alarm clock has become our one,...
How to Beat that Back to School Rut Every year summer comes to an end, and one particular thing pops into mind ... school is about to be in full swing. I don't know about you, but the mere thought of anything school related gets me anxious as all get out! The summer has had its crazy moments with the kids being home making this mom ready for some organization (and quiet time). What I am not ready for is all the homework, earlier mornings and bedtimes. I am not completely a rookie to this whole 'school-aged' child thing. This year, my oldest will be entering into first grade, and my middle child will be entering kindergarten. With the completion of...
