Never Too Busy

I'm a busy mom, raising a busy family, in a very busy world. My husband and I both work while we raise two young children. When we're not busy working we still manage to find some time to attend events for our children, exercise, volunteer, grocery shop, shop for clothing and other necessities, travel to spend time with extended family, maintain our home, and prepare meals for our family. We even make time to have a social life with friends and even sneak away for an occasional date night. We are VERY BUSY! My on-going, ever evolving to-do list probably doesn't look much different from any other mom. Believe it or not, this isn't even me complaining or looking for...
Prepare yourselves because I am about to bring you into my newest obsession. The Home Edit team has turned organizing into an art form. I stumbled across their Instagram months ago and I look forward to every new makeover they get their hands on. I think what I love most about their site is their ability to transform chaos into calm in such a beautiful and subtle way. Inspired was the least of it, and after following their Insta for a few weeks, I was ready to tackle a few trouble spots that have been thorns in my side for YEARS. Here are a few tips that I've picked up as I tackled our pantry, laundry room, and garage. 1. Take...
Y’all, they get you when you are weak. It’s like you have a target on the back of your head one fine morning when you are really LOVING your kids school/work has been easier/you feel freed up to say “yes” to things again. It sounds a little like this: “Hey Miss Sarah! You know Miss Smith has been the class mom for two years now, we were wondering if you would want to help take that on?” “Oh yeah! What all is that? Coordinating for parties and things? Sure!” “Great! We know you plan things for your work, so we thought you might enjoy it!” “Can’t wait!” Seems so simple and easy … then you get the REAL info. It’s emailing other parents (all of...
Life is so dang busy. If you're reading this, I'm going to assume you're a mom. And if you're a mom, I'm going to assume you know exactly what I mean. Twenty-four hours each day is not not nearly enough to accomplish all of the things on my list and still have any time left for me, myself, and I. And that's considering the fact that I only sleep about six hours each night. In fact, sometimes I become so overwhelmed by my list that I end up paralyzed. Unable to do anything except aimlessly scroll through Facebook and Twitter. So here's a handy-dandy list of 12 things I would love to do, but can't seem to find/make/have time...

Going for the Goal

I'm not sure that I've ever kept a New Year's resolution. Most years, I avoid making them to avoid the disappointment. On years that I have made them, they've been vague (lose weight, save money) and lacking conviction or plans for follow-through. But I've decided that 2017 will be my year. I will overcome the personality flaws that have blocked me from growing in the past, and I will make these goals my b...well, you know what I mean. A quick Google search on goal setting pulls up about 17 bagillion hits on the importance of setting SMART Goals. Because life wouldn't be worth living without acronyms. So, what's a SMART goal you ask? There are a few different variations,...
