Parenting is hard. Marriage is difficult at times. You add those two together and it is a never ending battle of attempting to keep people happy, fed, and loved but also feeling like you are constantly messing up. After some recent extra stressful days I decided I need to sit back and reflect on things for which to thank you.
Thank you for being the “mean guy” to our kids when needed.
Thank you for being an example to our pre-teen of how to treat women.
Thank you for teaching all of us how to play cards even when we are stubborn learners.
Thank you for being my sounding board – for listening to work drama, girlfriend drama or me just complaining. You allow me to let go, let loose and go out into the world a little less scattered.
Thank you for cooking every single meal in our household. It doesn’t go unnoticed; our kids know they would starve or survive on take out if it wasn’t for you.
Thank you for putting our needs before your own. I know you would love that new video game, but you also know the kids need new shoes for school. You are always sacrificing your wants for their needs.
Thank you for making us laugh even when we don’t want to.
Thank you for being my husband first. For accepting me and all of my flaws and loving me despite them.
Thank you for allowing me to be a mother but also a woman. For encouraging me in my relationships and allowing me some “me time.”
Thank you for encouraging my spiritual journey with God. Listening to my crazy ideas to do ministry and supporting me as we go.
Most of all, thank you for representing and being the very best Daddy in the whole wide world. You are the rock of our family that could never, ever go unnoticed.
Husbands have a way of getting a bad rap when it comes to this parenting thing, but that isn’t true. You are the backbone of our family, and I am so very thankful that I get to do this life with you.
