June is here! There are plenty of activities happening to start off your summer with fun. We have gathered our favorite family-friendly events in the Baton Rouge area this month and featured them here on the monthly guide.

June 1 : Kids ages 3 and up can create a Light Saber Bookmarks Make & Take Craft at the Central Library. May the Force be with you!
June 2 : Celebrate Fire Safety at the Central Library, where kids can learn about fire safety from members of the Central Fire Department, for ages 4 and up.
June 2 : Make it a date night at Shaw Center for the Arts with MPAC – Music People Art Community, featuring sample culinary offerings and cocktails while listening to a variety of music.
June 3-5 : Discover the Dinosaurs – UNLEASHED with this walk-through exhibit at the Baton Rouge River Center, featuring a fossil digging activity, crafts and more!
June 4 : Don’t miss Mommy and Me Sweet Treat Class at Painting and Pinot, where children 5 and up can make an assortment of delicious treats!
June 4-5 : Take a short drive to the “Oyster Capital of America” and enjoy the New Orleans Oyster Festival, celebrating the Louisiana Gulf Oyster, restaurants and oyster farmers.
June 5 : Visit the USS KIDD Veterans Memorial for Free First Sunday – Our Finned Friends for a fun day at no cost!
June 8 : Baton Rouge K-9 Unit PAWS at Work Program at the Delmont Gardens Library gives kids the opportunity to learn about police dogs and their handlers, for ages 2 and up.
June 8-11 : Experience the musical story Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the LSU Shaver Theatre. Check the calendar for multiple show times.
June 10 : Outdoor Adventure’s Sunset Paddle is happening at Milford Wampold Park, where you can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of University Lake and paddle into the sunset.
June 11-12 : Taste the flavor at French Market Creole Tomato Festival in New Orleans with live music, activities, fresh tomatoes and more!
June 13 : Father’s Day Make & Take Craft at the River Center Library allows kids to celebrate dad by making him a unique card, for ages 3-11.
June 16-18 : Central Community Theatre Presents: My Son Pinocchio, JR, a retelling of the classic story from Geppetto’s perspective, performed at the Manship Theatre.
June 17 : The Main Library is hosting Movie Night: The Avengers, both outside and inside, and will provide refreshments. Vendors will be selling food and treats.
June 18 : Bring your bikes to the Louisiana Bicycle Festival at the UCM Museum in Abita Springs and enjoy exhibits, music, food, a bicycle flea market and more!
June 19 : Celebrate Dads with Father’s Day at the Zoo, featuring dad-themed programs, games and crafts.
June 20 : Visit the Bluebonnet Regional Library for Howard Pink and His Magical Garden Horses to learn about the french horn through music and storytelling. Most appropriate for elementary ages.
June 22 : Join us for Slide Into Summer Playdate at Lil Bambinos Playtorium with extra entertainment courtesy Painting and Pinot, donuts from Tiger Deaux-nuts and yummy bites thanks to Newk’s Eatery!
June 23 : The Louisiana Chapter of JDRF will be hosting its first ever for the Capital Region, Baton Rouge Mother Son Dance, a special evening for mothers and sons ages 3-13.
June 24-25 : Check out the Louisiana Peach Fest in downtown Ruston, featuring live music, food, activities and a parade!
The first three Mondays of June : Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital is excited to once again host Mommy & Me (and Daddy too!) the first three Mondays in June (June 6th, 13th and 20th) and our annual Kids’ Healthy Fun Fest on Saturday, June 25 at the Mall of Louisiana. Tuesdays & Thursdays : Twilight Tours at BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo gives you the chance to take a tram ride in the cool of the evening, enjoy an animal encounter and a snack.
Wednesdays : Bring the kids for the Creature Feature Summer Series at the Manship Theatre to see Rugrats The Movie, Iron Giant and more! Tickets include popcorn, juice or water and something sweet.
Saturdays : Visit downtown Baton Rouge for the Red Stick Farmer’s Market to shop locally grown products and support local farmers.
