As moms, we are SO busy painting on our own “canvases” of  the life we are building. Sometimes, it becomes a challenge to put daily life on hold to have a little fun. At Red Stick Moms Blog, we strive to bring you authentic and meaningful content that is relatable. We are all in the midst of different seasons and creating our masterpieces…. but last week we decided to throw caution to the wind and pick up a real paint brush. Our team was given the opportunity to enjoy a night out to bond, laugh and paint with Painting and Pinot. Some of us had experienced doing this type of thing, while others were rookies.

Before the splashing of paint got started, Street Breads showed up to offer us some delicious bites. We had the pleasure of noshing on their pressed panini sandwiches, gulf shrimp accompanied with sun-dried tomato and basil pecan pesto hummus, Salsa Rojas, Chipotle Sauce, and Guacamole with corn chips. They even provided a delicious adult beverage called a “Red Rooster” which definitely hit the spot.

After our food fest, Violet Tremblay, the wonderful owner of Painting and Pinot began our class. We each had a blank canvas with an apron and paints. We chose to do “Swamp Sunset”…reminiscent of the swampy scenes found in our beloved Louisiana. She patiently walked us through step by step, making each of us feel like a pro. Everyone’s paintings came out beautifully, yet each of our paintings were unique.

We also took this opportunity to gift our contributors with one of our favorite things. Our writers received custom RSMB and Baton Rouge themed necklaces from local artisan, Mimosa Handcrafted.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and highly recommend Painting and Pinot for your next event. They host public parties and private parties. You can always look on their calendar to see what is available. The private parties are perfect for bachelorette parties, birthday parties, girls night out, kid’s birthday parties, family night and any other event you might have in mind.

Ericka P.
Ericka is originally a New Orleans gal who was raised to begin many dishes with a roux. Since 2011, she has happily embraced the Red Stick life with her husband of seven years, Tyler. Although she met her husband at an LSU game after her car broke down, they both attended Northwestern State University where she graduated with a Business Administration degree. After graduation, she and Tyler took a leap of faith and tied the knot. She dabbled in the corporate scene but eventually returned to school to pursue her passion for teaching and earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught at an inner-city school in Baton Rouge for 3 years where she gained a family of students and colleagues alike. She’s traded in her beloved Expo pens and clipboard to stay home with her sweet and adventurous one-year-old son, Cullen. She is so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the sisterhood of fellow moms. Motherhood has been the best roller coaster she’s ever been on and even at the most challenging times, she tries to remember to embrace the chaos and “bless this mess” mentality. Ericka loves a good conversation, coffee, empowering other women {because we can all use a little encouragement}, laughing, baking and making memories with her family.
