A Letter to Moms

Hi Mama:

Some days are hard. You spend all day running around at work, chasing toddlers or trying to clean up messes after some really tough conversations after recent hurtful events in our community and you think “What am I doing??” Being a mom is rough. We all want to make sure our kids are taken care of and loved.

Motherhood is a beautiful, inspiring and an eye opening experience, but it is hard. Give yourself some credit. Take that much needed day trip with your girlfriends, put your energy for a day into a cause you believe in or sit on the couch and read a book. Fill your cup and feed your soul — your kids will be ok. Yes, they need you but they need you taken care of too.

I want you to know that you are appreciated. You may or may not get told this often but your kids, spouse and pets appreciate what you do. They know that you are the reason that the house runs smoothly, that you are the one who reads to them and loves on them. They might not tell you, but you are rocking this motherhood thing.

Now before you tell me that you aren’t, let’s think this through – you are doing your best. You are loving your kids and teaching them to be better citizens in our community. Sure they may come home from school with a letter from their teacher where they messed up or God forbid they got into a fight with a friend, but chances are they came home and talked to you about it, right? You are creating an environment of trust and care for your kids. Our kids will mess up, but that is part of life.

I just want to say thank you. Thank you for loving your kids, their friends and even random children that come into your life. You are making a difference. Keep spreading love. Keep reminding your kids that they matter. One tiny act to you makes a huge difference to your kids and to the larger community.

Take care of yourself so you can take care of those around you.

Signed:

Another Tired Mama Just Trying Her Best

From all of us at RSMB, have a Happy Mother’s Day!

Tiffany
Tiffany is happily married to her high school sweetheart, Desmond. Together they get to play the roles of Mommy and Daddy to Micah, a gifted Math Wiz of a teenager who is always making people laugh, and Keilyn, a spunky, flower loving, dancing girl who will stop and talk to anyone she meets. She was born and raised in Baton Rouge and has Cajun blood running through her veins. She works full time outside of the home in business administration. She started the journey of motherhood young but wouldn’t have it any other way. Her children have taught her to laugh, play and that sometimes it’s ok not to have a plan! She has a passion for teenagers and is an active mentor in her church’s youth group. In her rare free time she enjoys shopping, coffee, and date nights with her husband. She believes that everyone has a story to tell and enjoys meeting new people, making people laugh, and spending time with friends and family.
