Baton Rouge Area Easter Festivities Guide 2015

I love this time of year! The warm, sunny weather, crawfish, all the kids in their cute Easter clothes. Something about it just makes me smile! Every year I like to take my kids to different Easter activities, and there are so many to choose from. Here is an easy-to-follow guide of some of the best local Easter happenings. Enjoy!


BREC – Community Egg Hunts
Friday, Mar 20, 6:30pm-9pm – Plank Road Park
Saturday, Mar 28, 10am-12pm – Forest Community Park
Gather up the family for these upcoming community egg hunts packed with fun and exciting activities for everyone. This will include themed recreational games, arts and crafts, visits from the Easter Bunny, and much more.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Bunny Hop Brunch
March 22, 11am-1:30pm at the Crown Plaza in Baton Rouge
The Easter Bunny will arrive early this year for youngsters and their families! While enjoying a delicious brunch, guests are treated to a style show featuring the latest in children’s Easter fashions presented by local merchants. A child’s auction, Easter egg hunt, and games keep the kids entertained while parents bid on fabulous Easter baskets filled with treasures donated by local merchants & interior designers. Don’t miss being a part of this popular Spring event.

Bethany World Prayer Center – Eggs At The Park
March 28, 10am-12pm
Seven different locations: Howell Community Park, Hooper Road Park, North Street Park, Gardere Lane Park, North Sherwood Forest Community Park, Perkins Road Community Park, and PARDS North Park
Each location will have activities like face painting, free popcorn, ministry times, and a giant egg hunt.

Rural Life Museum – Old Fashioned Easter Celebration
Sunday, March 29, 2pm-5pm
Children ages 2 through 8 will have the opportunity to enjoy customs associated with Easter in Louisiana. Activities such as egg dyeing, paquing, and leg races will be available to participate in as well as hunting eggs for prizes. Admission: $5.00 per person. Children under 2 years are free.

Catholic Charities Walk for Justice Way of the Cross
Good Friday, April 3, 9am-10:30am
Begin on the steps of the Cathedral of St. Joseph
412 North Street, Baton Rouge
Join Catholic Charities and St. Joseph’s Cathedral in walking the Way of the Cross through downtown Baton Rouge, and reflect on Christ continued suffering in our world.


Pretend, Play, Party – Egg-Stravaganza!
April 3, 10am-12pm
Pretend Play Party in Denham Springs is excited to celebrate their second annual Easter Egg Hunt with the community. Hopsy the Easter Bunny will be back and available for pictures from 10am-12pm. The event will feature a drawing, giving guests the chance to win one free 2015 membership. Guests will also have the opportunity to play, engage in a puppet show, take pictures with the Easter Bunny, hunt for Easter eggs, dress-up, and get their faces painted by Animated Art Face Painting. All you need to bring for your children are your Easter Baskets! Admission rates do apply but will be waived if a membership is purchased.

Chapel in the Oaks – Easter Egg Hunt
April 4, 10am-12pm
Introduce your neighbors to the life-changing message of Easter in a fun-filled day for families of younger children. There will be games, crafts, hot dogs, egg hunt and a black light gospel presentation. Everyone is welcome. Egg hunt is for children through 5th grade. Bring a basket for each child.

Mackey Center and Full Gospel UPC – Easter Egg Hunt
April 4, 12pm-2pm
SE Mackey Center and Full Gospel UPC will host a free family-friendly Easter Egg Hunt at the SE Mackey Center. Activities will take place at 12 a.m.  and all children are invited to join in the fun with games, snacks, and hunt for 15,000 eggs!

April 4, 11am-1pm
2 locations: South Park (Denham Springs) and Lovett Road Park (Central)
Jambalaya, sno cones, cotton candy, inflatables, rock wall, pony rides, and more!

Hemingbough Sunrise Easter Service
April 5, 7am
This is a non-denominational Easter Service, open to the public. Complimentary coffee, juice and biscuits are served for the many visitors.
