Easy Kid-Friendly Filled Christmas Ornaments

The countdown to Christmas has officially started since December 1st in our house. We did manage to get our tree up a few days after Thanksgiving, but it was the perfect time. I love this time of year. There is just something about Christmas trees and Christmas lights that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Do you know what feeling I am talking about? I am sure you do! Turn off all the lights in your house, leaving only the Christmas tree lights on. Oh how I could sit there for hours just gazing at our tree.

ornamentAhhh! Well those hours are only possible when all my children are sleeping, particularly Miss Chloe. Chloe is my 15 month old who has an obsession with all things on the Christmas tree within her reach. Shatterproof ornaments are the best thing invented during the Christmas holidays.

I decided to take even more advantage of these shatterproof ornaments this Christmas holiday and have my older two decorate their own. I love Christmas and all the crafts and activities that come along with it. My older two loved this activity just as much as me and it is both inexpensive and super easy!

All you need:

  • Shatterproof clear ornaments with a removable top (the bigger the opening the better for those little hands)
  • Decorative Fillings: glitter, pom poms, sequins … whatever you fancy!

I organized all the different fillings before hand to make it easier for the kids. We used different sized red/green pom poms and glitter. I found this set of 4 Shatterproof ornaments at Target, but have seen them at local craft stores as well (Michaels). The decorative fillings are from Dollar Tree. This entire project, to make 4 ornaments, cost me around $5.

The kids were so excited to put their own decorative ornaments on the tree. These ornaments would also make great gifts for family members as well!

I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and happy ornament making!
