Fall Fashion for Moms

Did you feel that? I think the temperature dropped about 4 degrees. Either way, it was enough for me to pull out boots and start dreaming about pumpkin spiced everything.

It also made me realize that my Fall wardrobe needs help, so I enlisted the help of my fashion forward friend, Instagram boutique owner, and all around awesome local mom Amanda Galatas.

Here a few of her tips for transitioning your wardrobe from Summer to Fall in Louisiana.

Plaid is rad. This season plaid is everywhere. That doesn’t mean you need to get a heavy flannel shirt. Look for something in a lightweight material that breathes. While you’re at it roll up the sleeves and pair it with distressed jeans.

Wrap it up. A lightweight scarf has the ability to take an outfit up a notch. Even when you’re wearing the mom uniform (yoga pants and a basic top), wrap a scarf around your neck or drape it over your shoulders and you instantly look more put together.

*Notice how we used the same scarf as a wrap. Using the same piece different ways is both frugal and practical. Two things moms love!

Silly kids, backpacks are for moms. I’m loving the backpack trend.  It allows me to carry the entire contents of the house with me while on the go. The backpack makes lugging a wallet, toys, extra diapers and clothes, and all other essentials even easier, and you look really chic doing it!

You’re a supermom, you need a cape. Cape tops are the best transition pieces from Summer to Fall. They’re lightweight for the days that start off cool and end up warm, yet they still provide coverage. I love pairing these with skinny jeans or printed leggings.

Up your cardigan with game. Change up the regular cardigan look with something a little unexpected. A few fun ideas are solid and printed kimonos.

Booties are the new boot. There’s a new shoe in town! The bootie. It’s so cute and works with dresses, leggings, jeans, and even shorts.

Don’t forget about Game Day! What’s more Fall than football? We all know that most of the tailgating season in Louisiana is HOT! In order to stay cool, choose a lightweight, sleeveless material.

Happy Fall, Y’all! What are your favorite ways to be fashionable in Louisiana during the Fall season?

Jada
Jada grew up on the bayou in Larose. She moved to Baton Rouge for college, and quickly decided to call it home. In 2011, she married Zack, and in 2013 they had their daughter, Aubrey. They're also expecting another girl, Charlie, in August. Jada owns Movement Fitness in Watson, and loves helping women reach their wellness goals. When she's not working or parenting - oh lets be honest, those times are few and far between - she loves attending LSU and Saints games, cooking, playing golf badly, and being outdoors.
