When Mommy Needs a Treat

How many times a day are you asked for a treat, a snack, a candy, a cracker, a gummy? Well, sometimes Mommy needs a treat too!

And before we all get crazy making excuses of business … we are all busy. We are either working or at home with children or driving kids all over town or keeping up with the house … SOMETIMES, though, we all need to pause for a treat.

And just in case there are any hubbies / partners / friends out there listening, here are some things you might get for the mom in your life even if she isn’t asking for a treat.

A blowout

Let’s talk about how ridiculous this is for a minute (before we warmly embrace it), you go and pay someone to wash your hair and blow it dry. No cut, no dye, no nothing. They just massage your scalp with perfectly tepid water and beautiful smelling products. At some salons that offer this service, you will even be offered white wine or champagne! This is a treat above all treats! I highly recommend taking an hour every few months to indulge in a blowout especially if you haven’t taken the time for a haircut in a while!

A good mask

And I’m not talking about those $1 sheet masks in the bin at Target. I’m talking about those fancy $8 ones at Sephora! Or even better, a good mud mask or charcoal mask. You might look scary for the 10-15 minutes you are wearing it … but added bonus, your kids probably won’t bother you when you look like you have dipped your face in a pile of brown goo.

An exercise class

This comes with a warning, gentlemen, never suggest your wife needs to workout … BUT if she has been mentioning giving that new studio class a try or is dying to get to the gym without kids in tow, a couple hours of babysitting and a paid for class would make a great treat! (especially if she has extra time to get a coffee with a friend after).

A night off

There is nothing MORE luxurious than a night off. And I’m not talking a night when mom stays back from an outing to catch up on laundry and dishes … a legit, you tell her to leave the house (or in the case of a solo momma, show up at her house and kick her out) and don’t ask when she is coming back. Let her roam the aisles of Target alone or sit and drink a glass of wine with a book or maybe go see a movie that isn’t animated.

Back to masks, gold.gel.eye.masks

I’ve been RAVING about these on my insta stories for the past week. This might be the most luxurious / ridiculous thing I have ever purchased, and there is no going back! These masks reduce puffiness and all the other tell signs that you might have a toddler crawling into your bed every night. They are true miracle workers, so don’t question the price.

A clothes subscription service!

I have talked about Trunk Club and Stitch Fix in the past, and now Amazon is in the game with Prime Closet! This is a great way to refresh your wardrobe without leaving the house for a try on session. And these services typically come with free returns and credit your styling fee to whatever you might purchase!

However, if you decide to treat yourself or the mom in your life, be sure to remember that an hour or two of time is necessary sometimes. You need to remember who you are, what you enjoy, and what it is like to pick something that YOU want to do.

Next time your kids are asking for a treat, consider when the last time it was that YOU had a treat!!
