Try Something New: Online Grocery Shopping {IndiePlate Giveaway}

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by IndiePlate. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own!

I’m a busy mom with two young kids, and my goal each and every day is to make my life as simple and stress-free as it can possibly be (which is asking a lot).  We are a health-conscious family, and my biggest struggle is to find the time and energy to grocery shop and plan meals with my “helpers” along for the ride. So, when I heard about IndiePlate, a new online grocery store and delivery service for the Baton Rouge area, I was immediately intrigued.  You mean I can choose high-quality groceries from the comfort of my home, take as much time as I need to look at each item, and then magically receive them all on my doorstep?! Sign me up!!

IndiePlate advertises fresh and local food, but I didn’t realize how serious they were until I started perusing their user-friendly site.  The selection is incredible: everything from local produce, to grass-fed and organic meats, farm fresh eggs, a wide selection of bakery items, snacks, pantry staples, and so much more.  They had everything I could want to plan breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the week. (I can even order specialty cupcakes for a weekend party!) Not only that, but the website is so helpful in thinking of meal ideas.  They offer suggestions and recipes to go with many of the items and explain exactly what you are getting in the descriptions.

indieplate2One of the coolest things about IndiePlate is that they buy directly from local farmers and artisans.  They have personally met each and every food producer on their site and ensure the quality and freshness of these local goods.  I loved looking through the “about pages” where I could learn about the different producers.  I could see where each and every item was coming from. How cool is that?!

indieplateOnce I made my food selections and added everything to my “virtual cart”, I was able to choose the specific delivery date and time.  I could choose from Thursday/Saturday/Sunday at several different time slots. IndiePlate will deliver to your home or workplace, and if you can’t be there during your delivery time you can just leave out an ice chest and they will fill it up with your goodies! And although having groceries delivered to your door seems like a luxury, the delivery fee is only $3.95. That’s it.

I set my delivery date for Saturday afternoon.  At the appointed time, there was a friendly knock at my door. And…boom. There were my groceries: fresh, neat, refrigerated items cold. Some of the favorite things I ordered were the farm fresh eggs (look at those colors!), homemade pita bread, and raw local honey. I could go on and on about the amazing food, but you will have to check it out yourself.
